The intellectualization of romance refers to the tendency to rationalize romantic interest or relationships as opposed to attempting to face emotional vulnerability or express emotions authentically. Instances of this include gamifying interactions with your love interest, deliberately avoiding communicating emotions in the fear that it appears like a "concession," or overly analyzing trivial interactions in search of positive signaling. Examples of media that depict the intellectualization of romance include Kaguya-Sama: Love is War and the Love Hypothesis, franchises that emphasize logical reasoning in the face of emotional vulnerability as opposed to acknowledging the scope or intensity of one’s feelings.

In the near-future world of Virelia, advances in synthetic genetics and precision biochemistry have made it possible to safely and reliably grant individuals specific superhuman abilities at birth. These powers, such as enhanced strength, higher sensory abilities, or environmental adaptation, are designed to suit particular functions in society (e.g. telepathic coordination for emergency room staff).

Currently, a very small number of people are randomly born with powers without government interference. However, thanks to newly developed state technologies, Virelia’s government now is faced with a choice to implement a system of state-assigned superpowers, where powers are given to individuals based on public utility metrics such as societal need, domestic security, and better economic outcomes.  

Under this new system, Virelia's government has control over the general characteristics of superpowers, as well as the quantity of superpowers allocated to individuals.

In China, the government has introduced rural revitalization programs that offer subsidies, tax breaks, and training to encourage university graduates and former migrant workers to return to rural areas for work or entrepreneurship.

India faces similar challenges, including mass rural-to-urban migration, overcrowded cities, and underdeveloped rural regions. Many Indian graduates leave their hometowns for urban job opportunities.

For the purposes of this debate, fandomization refers to the development and growth of a community around a common interest, usually a TV show, video game, or a public figure. Fandomization involves community engagement in the form of fan creations such as art or fanfiction, as well as interactions between members of the fandom in online chatrooms and forums.

In many East Asian comics, protagonists become powerful through long-term self-cultivation, often involving spiritual refinement, years of training, reincarnation cycles, and mastering inner energy (Qi). For example, in Tales of Demons and Gods, the protagonist uses knowledge from a past life to ascend slowly through a complex cultivation hierarchy. These stories often emphasize internal growth, discipline, and destiny shaped by perseverance. The journey is gradual, and characters may be reborn or start from weakness to slowly ascend over time. This reflects a collectivist and harmony-oriented worldview. 

By contrast, Western superhero comics typically focus on sudden or accidental transformations who gain their powers through sudden events, with plots centered on external conflict, such as crime-fighting and battling villains. For example, Spider-Man gains powers instantly and fights local crime while juggling personal issues. These stories reflect a more individualistic worldview focusing on personal choice and the burden of individual greatness.

As a response to an increasing quantity of content surrounding mental health and wellness on social media, “self-diagnosing” is an act in which an individual self-identifies with disorders, often related to mood and cognition such as anxiety, depression, and even more chronic conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
